What does the McCain campaign have against protecting children from sexual predators?

Their new 30-second TV ad attacks Barack Obama's record on education, saying that Obama backed legislation to teach " 'comprehensive sex education' to kindergartners." The announcer then says, "Learning about sex before learning to read? Barack Obama. Wrong on education. Wrong for your family."

As a state senator in Illinois, Obama did vote for but was not a sponsor of legislation dealing with sex ed for grades K-12. But the legislation allowed local school boards to teach "age-appropriate" sex education, not comprehensive lessons to kindergartners, and it gave schools the ability to warn young children about inappropriate touching and sexual predators.

Republican Alan Keyes tried to use Obama's vote against him in the 2004 U.S. Senate race. At the time, Obama spoke about wanting to protect young children from abuse. He made clear then that he was not supporting teaching kindergartners about explicit details of sex.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said Tuesday of McCain's ad: "It is shameful and downright perverse for the McCain campaign to use a bill that was written to protect young children from sexual predators as a recycled and discredited political attack against a father of two young girls."

Why does Obama and Biden campaign for the right of doctors to cut

up unborn children and toss them into trash cans like trash, it's fine to

teach sex education but it sure isn't right to take the life of unborn

children.

Your statement is flat out false: "But the legislation allowed local school boards to teach 'age-appropriate' sex education, not comprehensive lessons to kindergartners," WRONG!

Have you read the statute? It provides standards for any comprehensive sex education offered in grades K through 12. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080909182739AAsbmhi&kid=AJdvJzr6NHa.mtFm2YUc&s=comm&date=2008-09-18+22%3A04%3A02&.crumb=

Sex Education is being taught starting in the second grade in other developed country. And that is the way to go. It also gives their little ones protection from some sexual predators.

If any teacher however would teach explicit sex in the early grades, it would be a moron.

So, first we have to teach the teachers properly and then the children.

what we need to do is not give them sex offenders the right to be protected feed them to the men that are doing time. They will not get out alive so then they can't do it again to another child...Them convicts still have there kids on the outside and i know for a fact that they will get whats coming to them the hard way ............

You are correct about this and we can only hope that it is just as effective for McCain as it was for Keyes! This kind off crap is very telling about a man that tries to claim this is not what he is about. On the contrary , I think it is exactly what he and she for that mater are all about.

You know of course that Halliburton a KRB have been implicated in child smuggling, white slavery, under age prostitution rings, etc., all around the globe.

Cheney was CEO...is this starting to add up now? Face it the politicians in this country are scum, with a very few exceptions, is it really that far a stretch to think that their pedophiles too?

Please, Please get your facts from a reliable source. Here you can pull in all the news/media stories into focus.

Pedophiles must be meted with death penalty.

Many people do not believe you teach a 5 year old about any kind of sex. It is a Parents Choice and not the Governments. However because some Parents don't Parent the Senator feels all children need this. Below is his quote from 2007 and below that Obama had to back peddle.

Here is Obama's Quote in 2007:

“But it’s the right thing to do,” Obama continued, “to provide age-appropriate sex education, science-based sex education in schools.”

Here is Obama's Quotes in 2004 and Obama wants teachers to tell 5 year olds the "facts" if they ask questions (he is back peddling):

When Obama’s campaign was asked by ABC News to explain what kind of sex education Obama considers “age appropriate” for kindergarteners, the Obama campaign pointed to an Oct. 6, 2004 story from the Daily Herald in which Obama had “moved to clarify” in his Senate campaign that he “does not support teaching explicit sex education to children in kindergarten. . . The legislation in question was a state Senate measure last year that aimed to update Illinois’ sex education standards with ‘medically accurate’ information . . . ‘Nobody’s suggesting that kindergartners are going to be getting information about sex in the way that we think about it,’ Obama said. ‘If they ask a teacher ‘where do babies come from,’ that providing information that the fact is that it’s not a stork is probably not an unhealthy thing. Although again, that’s going to be determined on a case by case basis by local communities and local school boards.’”

In addition to local schools informing kindergarteners that babies do not come from the stork, the state legislation Obama supported in Illinois, which contained an “opt out” provision for parents, also envisioned teaching kindergarteners about “inappropriate touching,” according to Obama’s presidential campaign.
