this is mission accomplished, could you imagine if the mission was not accomplished.
Because the military is stressed out--and we've lost the war in Iraq to the Shiite militias and the Sunni insurgency.
They need more meat for the grinder. :0(
they will never do a draft...not for the wars you speak of. They will do what they are doing now....just spend more and more money to for marketing and incentives and bonuses to join up...and of course hire more and more mercenaries.
Do you even know what imperialistic means? I imagine not. And there will most likely never be a draft, because of the attitude in this country of "I don't have to do it, let someone else do it."
I am fine with this. Drawing on my Navy experience from 1969 to 1972, a draft seems reasonable and also a way to indirectly hold our leaders accountable. If one REALLY wants to fight for a faction in a territorial civil war, lets have a draft and demand some real sacrifice. But then the future Cheney's will still have higher priorities and the future Bushes can go AWOL from their national guard units.
Still I am for it. Lets make the nation bear the responsibility and costs for these wars for oil.
down with the totalitarians, we should never have been in Iraq in the 1st place, it is all a means to an end, for something much more important than the media is letting on. I am exiting the service and very glad, what I see coming is an inevitable downfall. It has all been written.
There are some good reasons to oppose what we
are doing in Iraq, cost, loss of life and fuzzy goals
now that WMD has not been found. But, the naiveté
of labeling this conflict imperialistic demonstrates a
child-like grasp of foreign policy.
First off..."imperialistic war"...grow up.
Second, a few people say look at the draft. Doesn't mean it will be taken into account. There are always people calling for the draft.
Regardless of what the war is for,it solves virtually nothing.People at the top can always make suggestions like that knowing that their family members names will not go in the hat
A draft will not be needed unless a real war should come along and then it's just maybe. This little fight in iraq is no war and it is certainly not imperialistic. The US has never fought an imperialistic war. You seem to be just another silly muslim and I have a very low regard for muslims.
I believe the U.S. needs the draft...now days our young have no direction...I was 18 in 1969...I was 105 in the lottery so I joined the Navy...My preference...as a adolescent I had 2 choices...Military or College...these days the kids have play station or the hood...the Mexicans are taking all the jobs our young once took...jobs needed by kids to build a back bone. Yes we need a draft...the military will give what this country really needs...qualified leaders for the next generation...
It takes 2/3 majority in the House of Representatives to approve reinstating the draft. They will never do it because none of them would ever be elected by their districts again. That law is the perfect deterrent for drafting Americans to fight a foreign war.
this isnt about propaganda, its about being alive or dead. unfortunately your view of this situation is more than just a bit jaded. al qaeda makes the rules, we dont. they dont care where or when or how, they want the west dead. its a real simple situation, fight or be fought. i find it truly amazing how many liberals cant seem to understand that.
I think America would never accept a draft especially for an unpopular war such as this one.If they drafted people into service I believe that there would be many more casualties and that American would crucify those who allowed that kind of tragedy to occur.
I lived through the draft..I enlisted..The draft provided the number of recruits that were needed..not everybody was drafted..I have full knowledge of it..my brother and most of my friends WERE NOT DRAFTED..the only knowledge that people have today comes from a history book
I think in any situation where one gains, and one loses...there are more people that are involuntarily and negatively effected, than those who are directly and willingly involved.
Its too bad that contests between countries cannot be won without violence or religion involved.
Isn't it funny that no other branch in the military, other than the Army is agressively advertising on television? Especially the one commercial that compares combat to playing video games?
Muslim clerics advise their following to kill people in the name of their religion - how do most towel heads feel about being drafted to jihad?
this is 70 virgins accomplished, could you imagine if the 70 virgins looked like Rosie Odonell?
