Should voters be required to show a valid ID before voting? Why or Why not?

If the left is against Illegal immigration, and voter fraud (as they claim) you would think they would be for this and not against it, what say you?

It's not really a hassle to show picture ID, since most people have their wallets on them most if not all the time. There's simply no logical reason to be against showing a valid ID... In fact, it would actually improve people's feelings about national elections and give more comfort as to the polls' integrity.

In the state of Florida they do have to show a valid id.

Yes, How else can we insure that people don't go from precinct-to-precinct, following that old expression "Vote Early, and Vote Often !"

Also should help keep some of the illegals from voting, at least in states where they are smart enough to be concerned about illegal immigration.

Yes. If you can't furnish a photo ID, you have no business voting. I'm not picky about what kind of ID it is, but you should have to furnish a photo ID.

Yes. If a woman can register her dog to vote, anyone can register to vote.

will this include the dead voters, and pets? what about the mail-ins?

The idea that we should be encouraging as many people to vote as possible is wrong, to begin with. I don't want everybody to vote, because most people pay so little attention to the candidates, or to the issues. When they vote, either liberal or conservative, it's because that's how they've always voted, or because they heard some convincing sound bite.

The election should not be decided by the ignorant. Let those of us who pay attention, liberal and conservative alike, do the voting, and everybody else stay home!

Happy New Year!

I think its absolutely correct to require valid ID before allowing a person to vote.

That would be a good idea, but some liberal group always whines about the poor not haveing money to have a photo i.d.

It would be great.Heck Nixon might of have won in 1960(All those dead demoncrates that voted.)Teddy, and Hillabill will never let it happen.

Yes to eliminate voter fraud. In the last election they had several dead people vote, and I just don't think if your dead your vote should count.

does one have to show id to cash a check in a bank,so why not to vote ......the libs are trying to swell votes with illegals thus no id's.that simple.

I always show my ID before voting, so my signature can be matched up.

It makes perfect sense. Only US citizens are allowed to vote, and then only allowed to vote once. Why would anyone have a problem with proving who you are before you vote? The only reason you would be against this is if you want people to vote who aren't US citizens. Now who do you think would want non-citizens to vote? (Jeopardy music playing in background).

Ding ding ding. That's right. The same liberals who want to let all of the illegals stay here legally. Why? Because who do you think the illegals will vote for: the people saying they can stay, or those saying that they can't.

Yes

I think that would be a good idea and I don't see a problem.

In short yes - there should be an effort made to have some sort of valid ID shown

Long gone are the days when a utility bill with your address on it and someone from the nieghborhood saying "yep I know him/her" is good enough

I grew up in a small town in Ontario Canada - where we trusted each other -

My wife and I have shown up to voter booths with my phone bill and the only response I got was - "thats your address you go over there to vote "

I showed up in 1997 to get my new picture ID health card - and had no other ID - my father said - This is my son - and the government lady said -

"Sign here " photo's over there - move along we have to keep the line moving Sir"

Great - that has always been a huge plus living in Canada - I have loved the simple get it done cultural attitudes

But - times have changed and we need to stop that

It is sad it is lost - it is sad we can't do things like that any more

But we need to understand this

We can't do business like that in the 21 st century any longer

Nor can we have the line up's at the airport for customs that have a guy ask -

Are you Canadian ? yes - Good move along move along -

Yes

To vote one must be legal in many aspects. Showing proof via a drivers license or state issued ID would help to eliminate voter fraud. Of course, without the votes from dogs and the dead the Democrats will be hard pressed.

Yes absolutely, prevent voter fraud. They have been doing it for years.

no

i think the world would be better if everyone would just get along

but honestly i didn't read all your question.

ID's interfere with voter participation. An oath under penalty of perjury, has and should suffice. There is little evidence of fraud in any case
