Why are you shocked? Alot of people knew it was coming. It's Obama for crying out loud.
Yeah, nice huh?
So my lazy *** neighbor hand out redipiant who could but doesn't contribute anything to society gets free health insurance and the veterans and service people are going to have to pay.
What is wrong with Obama anyway, I think he is crazy.
You're right! This is horrible. It's almost as bad as that guy that wanted to make it so poor and disabled people had to pay for their own insurance. Maybe equally as bad or worse.
Just like women in the military that are overseas are denied health procedures that they can have done here in the USA.
What is wrong with people?
I heard this story on the news. Words were not put in Obama's mouth, those most certainly were his intentions. What a fine way to support those who have served to protect your freedoms.
Yet those who don't do anything for this country he is willing to give them homes they can't afford and cars and education and health care.
Those who put it on the line for this country you are SOL.
Eventhough the bill doesn't stand a chance of passing.
The fact that Team Obama was even considering such a bill is deplorable.
As this is going down, Pelosi is on a mission to stop removal of illegal aliens from work sites, calling it "UNAmerican. I guess they are more important to the Democratic voting base.
I agree. It is quite disgusting that they are even considering this.
Don't panic, they haven't passed it and I can't see how it has any chance. It surprises me, as this is one area in which the democrats love to slam republicans (that republicans stop caring about soldiers after they have finished fighting and it's time to give them the benefits they need and deserve because of their service). And with an estimated savings of less than a billion dollars, it just doesn't seem worth it.
The only way vets should be forced to use private insurance is if the government is going to pay for their private insurance. If private companies can provide these services cheaper and better than the government, there is nothing wrong with changing the way we get care to our veterans. There is something very wrong with shirking our national obligation to care for those who were hurt in the defense of our nation. As long as the government pays, I don't care if they change the way the VA gives benefits, but we owe the benefits to our soldiers.
I really don't see this proposal becoming law. People will wait and see if the stimulus works, how the wars go, etc., but if democrats come out against veterans, they will lose political capital so fast that the republicans won't be waiting for 2012--they'll get their way much sooner.
Why do people keep posting this? Its been posted at least a dozen times TODAY. This is one proposal the administration is looking at. It has not been adopted as policy. I doubt it will be.
You have a few facts wrong. First, this is only something that was being considered - not proposed, not agreed to, it was just a suggestion somebody made that they bothered to think about. Second, it wouldn't force veterans to GET private insurance, it was about taking veterans who already HAD private insurance off the VA rolls, so that the private insurance would cover all of the costs and not just some of the costs. Anyone who's in the military service and doesn't have a job or private insurance would still be covered by the VA, and anyone who has private insurance but prefers the VA insurance could drop their private insurance and get VA insurance for FREE. The Kansas City Star is clear on this, that it isn't forcing veterans to get jobs and pay for their own health care, it's just saying that anyone who makes the choice to get their own insurance or who has a job that gives them insurance will then not ALSO get VA insurance. Either way they would be covered, and they wouldn't be REQUIRED to get private insurance.
It wont go anywhere. The Folks would not stand for it. That is where the only sense is,in the private sector.
I think that this post has started to change, It has been posted several times, and each time somehow Obama has done more. lets get back to the original article.
In making recommendation for Veterans health care, it was suggested that Veterans could use private insurance to go to a private doctor, and have the VA reimburse them. reason: some disabled vets live far from VA hospitals and can't receive care when they need it. sometimes I have to drive 200 miles to go to certain VA hospital. then I have to wait 2 months to get the 80 dollars reimbursement for my travel. would I pay 80.00 to go to a local doctor and get reimbursed, yes I would. saves time and money.
They would not be injured in the first place if they hadn't been sent to war for no reason
Hey look on the bright side....one of hussein obama's first acts was to give free health care to illegal immigrants!
IMPEACH THE BUM!
Stop crying, whatever he is doing is the right thing. We won , You cry.
