I think he is very right and I it is horrible that influential black people speak out as much as I can against this white fool, but don't care when these rappers come out with ignorant songs that negatively affect black youth and our future.
Jason Whitlock has credence to his argument. I believe the incident was blown totally out of proportion and was fueled by Sharpton and others who have their own agendas. Imus' comments would have offended me personally had I been one of the young ladies on the team; however, that would have been an issue for Imus and I, (along with my legal counsel and university representatives) to deal with and would have avoided ALL media and outside agitation. That Imus' comments have led to assumptions about Black character and the use of slang terms, ghetto euphamisms, and hip hop jargon by non-whites is the real sidestep of arguments, especially since none of these issues really concern themselves with the Imus-Rutgers team issue.
People need to stop inventing reasons for Imus to skate. I'm not calling for him to lose his job but his comment was appalling. It was tacky and out of line, not to mention sexist and racist. If one wants ignore the legitimate racial implications of what he said, at the very least notice that his comment was disturbingly SEXIST and out of place when refering to some college kids!!
I guess it just doesn't register to you guys that you can't call random girls whores and get away with it. Forget that he called them "nappy." Why whores?
When I found out that he wasn't supposed to be a wholesome DJ and instead was a former competitor of Howard Stern, I no longer thought of his actions as that bad. However, he has no business on MSNBC because isn't that a non-bias news channel? However, I believe FOX news would be a great place for him. Those people say anything!
Another instance of "Black on Black" crime!
