What do you think will happen when the atom smasher is turned on (see details)?

See this link for news story:

Every day the earth is bombarded by cosmic rays, with energies in excess of 10^20 ev. The LHC at cern is designed to accelerate protons to 7x10^12 ev. At least 10 millions times less energetic than the most energetic cosmic rays. Anything that could possibly be created at cern has already been created numerous times from cosmic rays colliding with particles in earths atmosphere. So as far as you and I are concerned nothing is going to change (except our understanding of the universe).

If it works, the people who built it will be very happy, and will proceed to do the experiments they have been planning for many years.

No one else will have any notion that something has happened.

interesting. i dont think its certain wat will happen. ne one can theorsize on wat will happen but the only way to truly no is to fire it up and cross our fingers it isnt a big black hole

As a long-time resident of Kansas City, let me assure you:

If it's printed in the Star (which is where KansasCity.com gets its stories), it's hype.
